Happy to say that Idol, the second member of the Demons series was accepted into the 51st Juried Annual Exhibition at the Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay. This will be its debut and I'm very excited to be taking part in the exhibition for the second time.
The Demons series is inspired by the idea that allure, rather than repulsion, is the preferred tool of a deceiver: That it's not the monsters under the bed that we should be worried about but evil that can blend in with the everyday world and work within society to pursue its goals. An evil that attracts not only builds a larger following, but better convinces its followers of their righteous path over the objections of onlookers. If someone truly believe what they're doing is for the greater good or for a righteous cause, there is very little one can do to convince otherwise, even if the results or direct experiences seem to contradict the claimed goal. Idol (Demons II) takes on the pageantry of worship, depicting a large statuesque human sat in a sort of temple-like setting; the focus of attention, surrounded by finery, with room to spare, awaiting the devoted. See more of Idol HERE and check out the Miller HERE.
